Classes and Staffing for 2014

In 2014, the Day 8 enrolment collection process may mean potential changes to our current staffing model.  To ensure that all Queensland schools are staffed equitably, Education Queensland administers the Day 8 enrolment collection process to finalise staffing allocations.  Primary and secondary schools will receive their approved staffing allocation based on the number of students enrolled on Day 8 2014.  Oakwood State School currently has 98 students enrolled and based on this figure we would form four classes for next year.  However, our current predicted enrolment figure for the start of 2014 is approximately 104. At 104 students our school would receive extra funding, resources and form five classes after day 8 2014. That would mean enrolment growth from 2013 to 2014 of over 25%. Wow!

I encourage all parents to be proactive and canvass the local area for any possible enrolments before Day 8 2014.  Enrolment information and packages are available from the office.  If you have any queries or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
